We’re already three weeks into Season One of the Creepy Cabaret, and this week’s episode is just as frightening as the last! In a world where technological advancements have become political and particularly personal, Josh’s latest story reflects an alternative reality and the ethicality of AI innovation.
With so much talk of the futuristic robotics, I thought it best to direct the music toward a beep-boopy, analog soundscape. Josh initially suggested Ben Salisbury and Geoff Barrow’s Ex Machina OST. It had been a while since I’d since the film, but the music speaks volumes. Immediately, I knew arpeggiation, saw synths and UAD’s PolyMax would play vital roles as I shaped this display of absolute tension. No doubt, Arturia’s Analog Lab and Heavyocity’s myriad of incredible sounds helped me just as well.
Building to the climax wasm quite honestly, my favourite part. The enveloping sub that introduces us to the horrors of that moment, and how we find ourselves digesting the aftermath. I hope that you are able to close your eyes and envision the film-like quality that Josh and I seemed to both be aiming for with this episode.
